Testing and Results
With the Asus Z97-A USB 3.1 motherboard, we installed Windows 8.1 on a system including an Intel Core i7-4790K, 4GB of 1,600MHz Crucial Ballistix DDR3 memory, a Samsung SSD 850 EVO 120GB and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 2GB. We installed the latest available ASMedia USB 3.1 driver and Asus's AI Suite III, which includes USB 3.1 Boost. As both the test system and the test drive (in this case the Asus USB 3.1 Enclosure) are different to what was used for speed testing with MSI's hardware, we have left those results out of the charts below. However, you can refer
here if you'd still like to compare them - the tests are the same.

We test both the ASMedia-based USB 3.1 ports, and the on-board USB 3 ports, which are powered directly by the Intel Z97 PCH. We test them both as they come, and with Turbo mode activated in AI Suite III.
